Fred W. Davis was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated cum laude from Duquesne University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science before earning his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Law School in New Orleans in 1983.

Mr. Davis has been commissioned as a Notary Public in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana, and has practiced law in Lafayette for more than 27 years. His legal practice has focused primarily on transactional matters, including real estate closings, property law, successions and estates, and business advising. He also serves as Of Counsel to the law firm of Rabalais, Hanna and Hebert in Lafayette.

Teaching has been an important part of Mr. Davis’s career. For many years, he has taught legal subjects at the university level. He currently serves as an Instructor in Business Law in the Department of Marketing and Hospitality at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he teaches Notary Public and Hospitality Law. He has also taught notary courses at LSU-Alexandria.

In 2008, Mr. Davis was appointed by the Louisiana Secretary of State to serve on the Senate subcommittee for Notary Education. His extensive experience as an attorney, notary, and educator has given him a unique understanding of what students need to successfully prepare for the Louisiana Notary Public examination.

Mr. Davis is the owner of Pass My Notary, LLC, the publisher of the educational products available on this website. He also presents the Critical Knowledge Seminar, helping aspiring Louisiana notaries gain the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue their notary commission.
