FAQ’s

What makes Pass My Notary different from other Notary Prep sources?

In addition to owning the most complete and respected exam prep materials in the state, once you become part of the Pass My Notary community, you have direct access to Fred Davis via email. This access allows you to chat with Fred about specific questions you might have as you are studying and he will send periodic words of encouragement and additional tips for test prep. This Fall, purchasers receive an added bonus of a new exam each month beginning in August.

Simply stated—Proof of ability is results.  Pass My Notary was founded by an attorney-at-law with nearly three decades of experience.  Attorney Fred Davis has also served on the Senate Subcommittee for notarial education.  He’s taught notary public for years in a collegiate setting and he currently is “Of Counsel” in his law practice.  The Pass My Notary project is a product of this abundant amount of experience, education, and interaction with students, as well as state officials and educational administrators tasked with administering the notary examination. The overwhelming results and positive feedback from Pass My Notary purchasers is encapsulated in our testimonials section.

How is the Critical Knowledge Seminar different than the workbooks?

The seminar is offered just weeks before the actual state exam, and is designed to provide intensive instruction on the core concepts of notarial document construction and practice, as well as scenario examples and answers. More than just lecture, it is a highly interactive experience to help you gain the confidence you need to succeed.  It is designed for people that have applied themselves to study and preparation. The Critical Knowledge workbook will tremendously enhance your understanding of the material covered at the seminar.

Why should I purchase the workbooks; isn’t the Secretary of State study guide enough?

The Secretary of State’s study guide contains a wealth of information but no method to synthesize and apply the information in a systematic way. It has very limited examples and little concrete insight into the content of the new format critical knowledge exam. The Pass My Notary tools provide hundreds of examples similar to the exams, and answer keys tied to the current study guide pages, so you can enhance your study of the material. Our workbooks show you how to mark up, highlight and annotate your study guide for the exam, plus expose you to numerous topics in test questions and content of act analysis.

What if I am enrolled in a notary prep class? Do I still need the workbooks?

It depends on the instructor. Pass My Notary materials have been used regularly as required books, by several instructors throughout the state, to assist their teaching methods. Even if your instructor provides opportunities for exams and review, the workbooks can augment their instruction.

How can I save money on product purchases?

Consider the “Complete Bundle” or the “Critical Knowledge Bundle” where you save 10% on seminar cost. As always, free priority mail shipping on all products.

I’m uncertain if I should pursue my notary commission.  Is it really worth it?

Notaries in the state of Louisiana are tasked with powers reserved for attorneys in most other states because of Louisiana’s civil law traditions.  To that end, notaries do not simply authenticate signatures. Notaries in Louisiana require an individual to have an in-depth understanding of the law as it applies to notarial acts. The Secretary of State has pre-assessment testing to help you make your decision of whether to commit to studying for your commission.

Would my workbooks help me in my notary practice?

Absolutely!  In fact, many purchasers have stated that they are currently using the Pass My Notary workbooks in their practice.  While the workbooks do not provide legal counsel per se, the examples and exercises have proven to be incredibly valuable as people engage in notary practice. So they have enduring value beyond helping you attain your commission.
